The short version: we barely know you exist

Privacy*

No cookies

This site sets no cookies. None, not even the "essential" kind, which is why there is no cookie banner to click away. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate without cookies, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking; we can see that a page was read, never by whom. Fonts are served from our own domain. The map draws its tiles from OpenFreeMap, which sets no cookies either.

What we do collect

Three forms on this site accept information you choose to give us, and that is the entire list. The newsletter form stores your email address so we can send you the Monday Hit List; nothing else, no open tracking, and every send includes a way out. The tip form on venue pages stores what you wrote so an editor can read it; tips are never published automatically. The contact form stores your message and email address so we can reply.

This data lives in our hosting provider's storage (Vercel, under EU data-protection safeguards), is never sold, never shared, and never used for anything beyond the purpose you gave it for. We keep it only as long as that purpose exists: unsubscribe and your address goes, ask and your messages go.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (AVG) you can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Since the honest answer is "at most an email address and whatever you wrote to us," this tends to be a short conversation: write to us and it is handled the same day.

Outbound links

Booking and website links lead to the restaurants and their booking platforms, which have their own privacy practices. Where a booking link is or becomes an affiliate link, it is marked sponsored and explained on the methodology page; the tracking, if any, happens on the destination site, not here.

If this ever changes

If we ever add anything that would require consent, you will get a real choice, not a dark pattern. This page is the record; responsible for it is EatStreet, Amsterdam, reachable via the contact page.
