Restaurant Europa
Restaurant Europa serves one tasting menu to 18 guests at a 25-metre counter in Noord; Time Out ranked it first in Amsterdam in 2026.
Self-taught chef Rein op 't Root, a Rietveld art academy alumnus, cooks one tasting menu at a 25-metre counter for 18 guests, in a garage next to Euro Pizza in Noord. Europa began as a chef's table at the HEM in Zaandam, run by five friends. The pandemic closed it within a year; the friends sold frozen pizza from a converted Volvo, opened Euro Pizza and brought Europa back next door by May 2023. The autumn and winter 2026 menu costs €129, from arctic char and North Sea octopus to chicken royale and pudim abade de priscos. Co-founder Teun Burghard is the sommelier. Het Parool's Mara Grimm gave Europa an 8 in 2025; she tasted more nearly brilliant bites than finished dishes and found the portions small, yet sat on the edge of her seat. Time Out ranked it first among Amsterdam's best restaurants in May 2026, and Gault&Millau raised it to 15 out of 20. The building is temporary: in May 2026 the permit had about three years left.
Open Thursday to Saturday from 18:30. Book online, with a €65 per person deposit and groups of up to six; mention any allergies when you book.
