Wolff & Beer
Two owners aged 24 and 22 reopened the old Bartack as an all-day bruine kroeg with Lindenhoff entrecôte and Holtkamp bitterballen.
Mark Wolff, 24, hotel school in The Hague and a stint at The Merrion in Dublin, and Beer Koker, 22, took over the corner on the Postjesweg where Bartack had run for years and opened Wolff & Beer on 9 January 2026 as what they call bruine kroeg 2.0. It is open from 08:00 for croissants and Femke's apple pie, does open sandwiches with Dutch cold cuts and a tosti with nduja at lunch, and from 17:00 cooks a short Dutch card: a beetroot salad with whipped ricotta at 12, a Lindenhoff entrecôte with pepper sauce and fries at 34, cod with mash and beurre blanc at 25, a lacquered celeriac with shiitake jus at 22 and a house burger at 19.50, with the bread from Bakkerij Menno and bitterballen from Holtkamp. The room does the brown-café thing with warm wood and photographs from the city archive on the walls, and it stays open to 03:00 on Friday and Saturday. Entree Magazine and AmsterdamNow both covered the opening, and the owners' line that they are not gastronomic but offer quality is fair. It is eight months old, financed partly through a Heineken partnership, and the entrecôte price sits above the honest-neighbourhood pitch, so this is a promising entry rather than a settled one. The Baarsjes has needed exactly this room for a decade.
Open from 08:00 weekdays, 09:00 weekends, kitchen 17:00 to 21:00 for dinner; card only. Walk in for lunch, book for a Friday dinner. Order the cod or the celeriac rather than the entrecôte if you want the value.
