Sea Palace

A pagoda floating in the Oosterdok since 1984, five minutes from Centraal, with dim sum until 16:00 and a Michelin Bib Gourmand since 2024.

Sea Palace has floated in the Oosterdok since 1984, a pagoda on three floors five minutes on foot from Centraal Station. It was built with money from entrepreneurs in Amsterdam and Hong Kong and opened with Chinese fireworks, a dragon parade and a nine-course dinner. It began as a Chinese-Indonesian restaurant and later switched to Cantonese cooking. Residents of the Oosterdokseiland fought the move laid down in the 2001 zoning plan; after a court ruling, the whole restaurant was shifted forty metres towards the station in 2016. Today it seats 600. Dim sum runs until 16:00, dinner from 15:00, with Peking duck and Sichuan dishes, ordered by QR code. Gilles van der Loo gave it an 8 in Het Parool around 2020; Michelin added a Bib Gourmand in 2024 and calls the detail in the decor extraordinary. Guests praise the dim sum and the duck, complain of rushed or careless service and the QR ordering, and call it touristy and not cheap.

Dim sum is served until 16:00 and the last guests are let in at 20:30. Book through the Frank widget on seapalace.nl; walk-ins are possible, but guests report waits.
