Sahan
Turkish mezze and charcoal-grilled lamb in Osdorp's former post office, with service that guests keep praising.
Sahan dates from 2011 and belongs to the family that also runs Revan on Van Woustraat and the Dido party centre. The restaurant is in Osdorp's former post office on Tussen Meer, and its aquarium of at least five metres comes up in more than 30 guest reviews. The menu is built for sharing: cold and warm mezze first, then the charcoal grill. Think antep ezme for €8, atom (cayenne, walnuts and sesame fried in butter on garlic yoghurt) for €9.50, manti filled with lamb for €13 and yoghurt soup with lamb for €9. A 300g Argentinian ribeye costs €40, The Mix of grilled lamb and chicken €34. The warm pistachio and walnut dessert Majnun is chef Murat's. Het Parool gave Sahan a 7 in 2015, calling the food mostly fine but short on bite in places. Guests now single out the friendly service and the mezze; a few call the mains middle of the road, and some find the prices steep.
Open daily from 12:00, until 22:30 Sunday to Thursday and 23:00 on Friday and Saturday; groups of 15 or more book through the group form. Takeaway includes a Mezze Box for two at €47.50, but the kunefe is restaurant only.
