Rondo
Cookbook author Bloeme Burema's first bricks-and-mortar spot, two toques within a year and open till midnight.
Bloeme Burema wrote two of the better Dutch cookbooks of recent years, one about beans and one about soup, ran the roving Cafe Soigne with Gina Verheij, and in November 2025 they parked it all permanently on the Planciusstraat in the Zeeheldenbuurt. Rondo got a Gault&Millau 13 and two toques before its first birthday, and De Westkrant left sounding slightly in love. The kitchen and bar melt into one calm room, and the menu is modern European where imagination outranks technique flexing: an oeuf sambal on shiso, veal tongue with huzarensalade and smoked egg yolk, savoy cabbage from the barbecue with brown butter and walnut sauce. Desserts stay playful, see the crepe brulee with saffron ice cream. Wednesday to Saturday, five until midnight, so it doubles as one of the few serious late kitchens on this side of the station. Card payments only, and the small room fills fast.
One of the rare good kitchens still feeding you near midnight; book ahead anyway, evenings fill fast. Wed-Sat 17:00-00:00, card only, no cash.
