Mr. Watson
A fully plant-based kitchen on the Wibautstraat that cooks mushrooms over open fire; guests single out the lion's mane steak.
Mr. Watson opened on the Wibautstraat in April 2026, in the former Drover's Dog, as the successor to Mr. & Mrs. Watson, the vegan restaurant on the Linnaeuskade that closed around the turn of 2023. Both take their name from Donald Watson, founder of veganism. The kitchen is fully plant-based and cooks mushrooms over open fire: lion's mane bordelaise costs €19.50, king oyster yakitori €16, and two set menus €44 and €59 per person. In June 2026 Oost-Online's Claudine Jansen liked a hen of the woods skewer and found the fried oyster mushrooms too thickly battered. Guests praise the lion's mane steak and complain about high prices and small portions.
Open daily from 12:00, from 10:00 at the weekend, with brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 16:00. Walk-ins are welcome; booking for dinner carries a €10 per person deposit.
