Il Pecorino

A Noord trattoria run by Tanya Spreitzer and chef Andreas Psyllas, with porchetta from the wood oven and a full alcohol-free drinks list.

Il Pecorino started as Mick Sonnenfeld's Italian deli on Van der Pekstraat, at number 40 from May 2011. By 2012 it had a terrace on the Van der Pekplein, where it grew into a trattoria and pizzeria. Since a 2025 renovation the trattoria serves no pizza; slices from the wood oven are sold in the Bar-Bottega next door, alongside cicchetti. Tanya Spreitzer is owner and host; co-owner Andreas Psyllas is the chef. Start with arrosticini (€10) or a frittura di pesce for two (€23), then black spaghetti with seafood or lasagne alla Bolognese (both €23.50), and porchetta from the wood oven with rosemary potatoes (€26). Vegetarians get plenty, from melanzane alla parmigiana (€20) to a vegan ciambotta (€22), and there is a full alcohol-free drinks list. Guests praise the friendly, fast service; Italians among them call the food authentic. On price they are split, with more complaints than praise, and at least four miss the pizza.

Book the trattoria online for up to seven; dinner runs in shifts, so take the last one if you want to linger, and the kitchen closes at 21:30. The terrace and the Bar-Bottega take no bookings.
