4850 is named after its house numbers on Camperstraat, where the Swedes Daniel Schein and Rikard Andersson opened it at the end of 2017. Schein, who poured wine at BAK and at In de Wulf in Belgium, is still owner and sommelier. The evening kitchen, which earned a Michelin Plate in 2021, closed in the summer of 2024. By day there is coffee from La Cabra, cinnamon and cardamom buns and a few sandwiches. Evening service returned on 14 August 2025 as a wine bar, now Thursday to Saturday from 15:00, with a small snack menu. In 2026 Vicky Hampton of Amsterdam Foodie called the cinnamon buns 'the most pillowy-soft' you have ever tasted. More than twenty wines are poured by the glass, from €7 to €20. Star Wine List awarded it a Gold Star, Special Jury Prize, for the Netherlands in 2025, and a Silver Star in the same category at its 2026 global final.
No reservations, no phone (email info@4850.nl) and card payments only. Daytime hours are 8:00 to 15:00 on weekdays and 9:00 to 16:00 at weekends; laptops are welcome at the window tables, but there is no wifi.
