The cookie is genuinely excellent; the internet rule stands, only queue if the queue is short.

Vera van Stapele has baked exactly one product since 2013, and it is a very good product: a dark chocolate cookie that hides a heart of molten white chocolate, six to eight thousand of them a day. The famous Heisteeg queue got so bad she moved the whole operation to Rokin 17 in 2024, and the line is now civilised on weekdays. So the old internet wisdom holds: if the line is ten minutes, join it, warm cookie, good day. If it wraps the block, walk on; it is a cookie, not a sacrament. Note that old TikToks still send people to the Heisteeg, where there is nothing but a closed door.
