A fine-dining chef making sandwiches in a shoebox: the good kind of hype.
Davie's is what happens when a chef with a fine-dining CV decides sandwiches deserve the same attention: David Baxter cures and smokes his own pastrami, crisps his sauerkraut, and builds a Reuben that has no business coming out of a Jordaan shoebox. The internet found it, as the internet does, and the lunch line now bends around the corner. But this queue buys you actual cooking rather than a camera angle, and it moves at sandwich speed. The tartare-truffle number is the connoisseur order; the Reuben is the reason you came.
